The game was similarly played with categories (rabbitanimal), name/ people of color (rabbitblack), distort/colour (blackwhite), and part/part (headtail). The younger children (?3.5 years) had pure(a) problems with synonyms and categories (alternative name for the items, 80% correct). Childrens increasing succ ess with age on the alternative names tasks was closely paralleled (.53 ? r ? .72) by their mastery of the false belief task in which they had to auspicate that a mistaken report card character would look for a desired object in the wrong location.

For explaining the synchrony in the midst of alternative appellation and understanding false belief we authorize on the Piagetian view that children come to represent eyeshot at close point in their development.
